Water Refill Station Near Lake Norman: How It Works (and Why It's Better Than the Supermarket)

A step-by-step guide to using the Lake Norman WATERTREE refill station, choosing your water, and saving money.

If you live in Mooresville or spend your weekends out on Lake Norman, you know the drill. It’s Saturday morning, it’s already 85 degrees, and you’re lugging three heavy 24-packs of plastic water bottles from the back of the supermarket to your trunk. By the time you get them to the boat or into your kitchen, you’re exhausted, and you’ve got a mountain of plastic waste waiting to happen.

We’ve all been there. But what if I told you there’s a better way to stay hydrated that’s easier on your wallet, better for the planet, and: most importantly: provides much higher quality water than those clear plastic bottles sitting in a hot warehouse?

At Lake Norman WATERTREE, we’ve created a local "hydration hub" right here in Mooresville. If you’ve driven past us on West Plaza Drive and wondered what a "water refill station" actually is, this guide is for you.

    The Problem with Supermarket Water

Most of us grew up thinking that bottled water was the gold standard. In reality, a lot of supermarket water is just municipal tap water that’s been put through basic filtration and then sat in plastic for months.

When those bottles get warm (like in a grocery store delivery truck or your garage), the plastic can leach chemicals into the water. Plus, there’s the sheer waste. Thousands of plastic bottles end up in our beautiful Lake Norman every year.

Supermarket refill kiosks are a step up because they reduce plastic, but they usually only offer one type of "standard" filtered water. You don't know when the filters were last changed, and you certainly don't get a choice in what kind of water you're putting into your body.

How the Lake Norman WATERTREE Refill Station Works

Walking into our store is a bit different than the self-service kiosks you see outside a big-box store. We’ve designed the process to be simple, clean, and actually a little bit of fun.

    1. Bring Your Own Containers (or Grab Ours)

You don't need to buy new plastic every time. Most of our regulars bring in their own 3-gallon or 5-gallon jugs. If you don't have one yet, we have high-quality, BPA-free glass and plastic dispensers right here in the showroom.

    2. Choose Your "Water Style"

This is where we really stand out. Unlike the supermarket, we don't just have "water." We have options based on how you want to feel and what you’re using the water for.

    • Alkaline Water: Our most popular choice. Many customers choose this because they feel it helps balance the acidity in their diet. It has a smooth, crisp taste that’s hard to beat.
    • Hydrogen Water: This is a favorite for the fitness crowd heading over to Mazeppa Park for a run. It’s packed with molecular hydrogen, which many of our customers use for better recovery and energy.
    • Mineral Force / Skinny Water: This is our premium blend infused with ionic calcium and sea minerals. It’s designed for those who want their water to work a little harder for their wellness routine.

    3. The Refill Process

Our station is meticulously cleaned and maintained. You simply place your jug under the tap of your choice. We use a multi-stage filtration process that’s far more advanced than a standard home pitcher or a grocery store kiosk. We strip out the "junk" (like chlorine, fluoride, and heavy metals) and, depending on the water you choose, add back the good stuff (essential minerals).

Why Lake Norman Families are Making the Switch

We’re lucky to live in a place with so much outdoor life. Between soccer Saturdays and long days on the water, we go through a lot of hydration. Here is why your neighbors are ditching the supermarket cases for our refill station:

    It Saves Money
Once you have your jugs, refilling is significantly cheaper than buying individual bottles or even those pre-filled exchange jugs. When you join our Water Club, those savings get even better with exclusive member discounts.

    It’s Better for the Lake
Every 5-gallon jug you refill replaces about 40 single-use plastic bottles. Imagine if every family in Mooresville made that switch: our local environment would look a lot different!

    The Taste Test
If you think all water tastes the same, come try a sample of our Alkaline or Mineral Force water. Most people are shocked at how "clean" and "soft" the water feels. There’s no metallic aftertaste or chemical smell: just pure refreshment.

More Than Just a Refill Station

One thing you won't find at a supermarket kiosk is a person who can actually explain what you're drinking. When you come into Lake Norman WATERTREE, you’re visiting a local business. We’re here to answer questions about pH levels, mineral content, or even how to get this same quality of water at your kitchen sink with one of our home systems.

We know the local water quality issues in Mooresville and the surrounding Lake Norman area because we live here, too. We’re not a corporate chain; we’re your neighbors.

    Ready to Ditch the Plastic?

Staying hydrated shouldn't be a chore, and it shouldn't involve a trip to the recycling center every week. Whether you're prepping for a boat trip or just want better water for the kids' water bottles, we'd love to help you out.

Stop by and see us at 294 W Plaza Dr, Suite E5, Mooresville. Bring your jugs, or just bring your curiosity. We’ll give you a tour of the station, let you taste the difference, and show you how the Water Club can make premium hydration the easiest part of your week.
